Het genootschap zou zijn opgericht in de jaren 1840. Net als soortgelijke organisaties had zij tot doel de verbetering van de landbouw te bevorderen. De instelling van de landbouwcomités en de provinciale commissie voltooiden deze organisatie op praktische wijze in de hele provincie.
